THE LORE OF LEAGUE OF VALHALLA
Origins
Legends say the Giants were the first to be born from the dust of the universe, and formed the pillar that supported the fragile newborn world. Later would come the Aesir, the gods of Asgard. Their king, Odin the Allfather, foresaw that the Giants would align with a great evil and bring destruction to the world. Odin led the Aesir to destroy the Giants and planted the seed of the World Tree on their flesh and blood, giving birth to a new world with the World Tree at its center.
Fulfilling Odin’s prophecy, Loki the Betrayer turned against the Aesir and located the remnants of the Giants in hiding in the dark corners of the world. Stoking their hatred, he plotted to destroy the Aesir and the world. When the world was shattered by Ragnarök, Baldr, the God of Light, led the humans to the land of Nevia where they built a new home. However, this new-found peace would not last. Loki eventually discovered the new world and brought his armies upon it. Baldr and his mortal champions Paynter and Letho gave their lives to stop the dark god, putting Loki into a deep slumber.
The Present
The dark god fell into slumber when the world was reborn, but remnants of his dark power lingered on the land, corrupting the humans who came into contact with it. These humans would form the Twilight Cult to serve their dark master. Now with the Twilight Cult becoming increasingly active across the land, Loki's return seems imminent.
The heroes of the realm must now take up arms to stop the forces of evil. Join the League of Valhalla, and fight alongside legendary heroes to save Nevia from the second coming Ragnarök!
A New Generation of Heroes
During the time of Odin and the Aesir, the souls of brave heroes were summoned to Valhalla when they fell in battle. Under the watchful guidance of the Valkyries, these heroes woke up each dawn and battled their fellow heroes to the death. At dusk, they were revived and returned to Valhalla to drink to their heart's content. When Valhalla disappeared after Ragnarök, the souls of these heroes became scattered across the world in the form of powerful relics to inspire a new generation of heroes.
